Best London Festivals

Festival fans are pretty spoiled for choice in London.  From huge music festivals to fun family gatherings, there is a lot happening throughout the year in the city although the summer is the season when the festivals really arrive in the city and there is something taking place almost every single week.

 Animated! Family Film Festival

If you are looking to visit the city and have found a great family package for London then you might to explore the Animated! Family Film Festival which is being held at the V&A Museum of Childhood this summer.  The V&A Museum will be presenting a series of animated films, from the world’s oldest surviving film to more contemporary animated creations as well.  There will be craft activities, a trail relating to the films being shown and the film rooms will all be decorated along a summer theme, complete with inflatable fruits!

This music festival is quickly gaining popularity with locals and visitors alike and offers DJs, electronic acts and live bands performing over the two days.  Taking place in Victoria Park, the 2016 line up includes names such as Jack Garratt, Major Lazer, DJ Luciano and many, many more.  Victoria Park isn’t particularly centrally located, but is well served by transport links with the nearest tube station just a short distance away so if you are taking advantage of one of The Montcalm club packages then you should still find it quite easy to party with the best of them and make it back to your hotel for the night before day two.

 BBC Good Food Festival

Taking place in the royal surroundings of Hampton Court Palace, the BBC Good Food Festival is a real must for foodies and anyone with even a slight interest in the topic of fine dining.  There are cookery demonstrations, artisan food stalls, and live music to help keep everyone entertained.  Be sure to check it out if you are visiting the city as part of a celebration package in London and you want to treat a loved one to a special day out.

 The Luna Cinema

Although only a ‘festival’ in the loosest of terms, the Luna Cinema nonetheless descends each summer to celebrate the best in classic and contemporary movies shown on an outdoor screen in landmark London locations.  Previous venues have included the Tower of London, Brockwell Lido, and Regent Park’s Open Air Theatre whilst previous films shown have been Jurassic Park, Notting Hill and Gladiator.  Venues and movies change each year so it’s well worth seeing what is taking place in 2016.

 Alexandra Palace Summer Festival

Although the British weather can’t always be relied upon, if you want to enjoy all the things which make summer great then head to the Alexandra Palace Summer festival this year.  You can enjoy giant waterslides, big screen movies, live music, food and drink and plenty of carnival rides and games.  The perfect way to relax and hail the arrival of summer in the city.
