Picking Your E-Juice: Everything You Need to Know

People spend a long time getting their vaping rigs just right. They choose the best atomisers, best tanks, Vape Mods & hardiest coils, etc. until they find the perfect combination…but it’s all a waste of time if they don’t get it right when it comes to choosing their e-liquids.

We have written this article to help you get it right when it comes to your choice of e-liquid. Once you’ve read it, we’re sure that you’ll be in a much better position to know exactly how to get what you need from your juice.

Always Read the Ingredients List

There have been a few rumours flying about lately that e-juice can contain dangerous chemicals. If they do, then it’s probably because they’re cheap and low quality. However, we have yet to see evidence of this even being the case.

However, it’s certainly better to be safe than sorry, so to this end, always read the ingredients list. If there’s something that you don’t recognise, do some research and find out if it’s safe. Furthermore, you should only buy your e-liquid from a reputable source.

Buying from a quality vendor will ensure that you always buy the best e liquids available.

Understand the Difference between Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG)

Both PG and VG are found in most e-liquid. They are both safe and both make it easy to vape the e-juice.

In general, you will find e-juices that contain only PG, flavouring, and may or may not contain nicotine, or only VG, flavouring, and may or may not contain nicotine, or a mixture of PG and VG, then flavouring, and may or may not contain nicotine.

A short explanation of PG and VG experience:

  • An e-juice that contains more PG will be harsher on the throat. Many people prefer this because it gives the experience something more akin to smoking. PG is flavourless, so has no effect on the taste of your e-liquid.
  • An e-juice that contains more VG will be smoother on the throat and produce large vapour clouds. It is sweet, so can change the taste of your e-liquids, making them sweeter.

Understanding Flavours

It may surprise you to learn that the flavours contained within e-liquids are simple food flavourings. Many everyday foods contain the same flavours. We would urge you to avoid oil-based flavours because they can clog your vaporiser.

Understanding Nicotine Content

Nicotine is generally safe – the reason cigarettes are dangerous is not due to their nicotine content, but rather to the other chemicals contained within the products, such as tar. E-juice, as far as we’re aware, does not contain any carcinogenic.
If you’re looking to replace a smoking habit with vaping, you need to choose a liquid with a nicotine content that will help negate your cravings. Here’s a rough guide:
  • If you smoke 10 or less cigarettes a day, opt for a 12mg solution
  • If you smoke between 10 and 20 cigarettes a day, opt for a 24mg solution
  • If you smoke 20+ cigarettes a day, opt for a 32mg solution.
In conclusion, by understanding the above-mentioned ingredients, you can tailor your choice so that you only ever buy the best e liquid for your tastes.
