Luxury shopping districts in London

Hordes of visitors flock into the capital each year to shop at its luxury retail districts.  Whether you are into fine wines, antiques, designer fashion or high-end jewellery, you will find stores that amaze you with both their range and service.

Mayfair – Mount Street 

Mount Street is area for fashion lovers.  It boasts niche and designer fashion as well as beauty brands.  Expect to find big names like Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga.  The district is also popular with art and antique dealers, so make sure you visit one if you are an avid collector.

Many of the best luxury hotels in London are located within the surrounds of Mayfair, so you can head into one of them for some refreshments or a delicious meal.  For example, The Montcalm London Marble Arch offers fine dining or brasserie style food at is two restaurants.  You will also find a champagne bar on its establishment.

Mayfair – Dover Street Market

Don’t let its name deceive you – this six-storey fashion store nothing like a market.  Full of luxury labels, you can expect to find brands Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent.

There are great food options here too.  If you’re after something a little less fancy than dining at luxury hotels in London, try the bakery located on the top floor of this big store; you won’t be disappointed.

St James’s Quarter

Located between popular tourist areas of Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park and Buckingham Palace, St James’s Quarter boasts beautiful shop fronts and opulent décor.  Popular stores include Jermyn Street which sells British tailor made shirts; Paxton & Whitfield, which is London’s oldest cheesemongers; and Berry Bros & Rudd, which is the go-to place for fine wine and spirits.  You can spoil yourself with a meal at The Wolseley or Michelin-starred 7 Park Place; for something a little more casual, try Villandry or Boulestin.

Sloane Street

Next on the list is Sloane Street, which is arguable one of the most exclusive and extravagant retail destinations in the world.  Home to catwalk designer brands like Tom Ford, Valentino, Giorgio, Roberto Cavalli and Chloe, fashion gurus can literally spend all day long browsing the latest fashion trends.

Bond Street

With luxury designer stores such as Burberry, Chanel, Dolce Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo, Bond Street is another great place to shop.  You can also find high-end jewellery here at Tiffany & Co.  Art and antique boutiques in the area offer a treasure trove of items for sale.


You can’t talk about luxury shopping in London without mentioning Harrods.  This department store is world famous and sells anything you can think of, including food, fashion, technology, beauty products, homewares, souvenirs, furniture, and much more.  It even offers specialist services like dog coat fitting and piano tuning.  Some tourists come just to see the Egyptian Hall or the memorial to Princess Diana.  Although Harrods is near some of the finest luxury hotels in London, extravagant food options are abound in its Food Hall so there is no need to go elsewhere.  Sweet or savoury, high tea or champagne, oysters or steaks – they’ve got it all.
